I have not been arround any Trikes much. Not even out on the road. But this year they seem to be in my path every other week. It seems like I end up behind them when they are going to exit the freeway and they decide to slow down for the 30MPH exit ramp while they are still 1/2 mile out on the freeway!!!
Man this is crap when your runnig in traffic going 70 and this trike slows down OUT ON THE FREEWAY to 30mph!!
Is this normal or are these newbie trikers or What? Man I'm blinking my brake lights and Eyeballing the rearview mirrors to make sure the cages areto slowing down behind me and trying to keepp from running up on the trike cause I'm stillOUT on the freeway!!
Man these dam things are a pain and their dangerous!!
Trikes can be made to look sweet (think the Exile trike, old school looking trikes, etc....not talking about like Goldwing and Ultra trikes) but they've always seemed so damn dangerous to me. How do you drive the damn things? Isn't it just..essentially, a tripod? It seems, to me, like it could just tip to the right front side, or the left front side (from the riding position.) Scary stuff.
dunno, i saw a sweet old school trike this afternoon getting on the bay bridge. first ive seen in a while, too. looked like a cross between a bass boat and a bumper car. right out of the sixties or something. he was certainly _not_ slow though. guy rode it like he stole it.
I seldom see a trike and I ride a lot..both on my bike and in my car. Now, I see from your profile you're from TN - maybe there's a custom trike dealer in your area?
Since the last years, I hat different trikes on the road up to 180 PS, top speed of 180 km/h. Modern trikes are safety andmake fun. Over here in Germany we have the quaterly magazine Trike-Magazin http://www.trike-magazin.dewith road tests, infos, technical advice and much more.
i've seen quite a few around, and know that we'll probably see more, now that HD will be selling Lehman made ones on their showroom floor.
as far as them driving slow, especially on turns and never having driven one, i would imagine they are a bit difficult or at least require some increased drivers attention. they don't handle like a 2 wheel bike and you don't lean to turn with them. how many times have you seen a kid roll his trike? they have to actually steer to take a turn rather than leaning or counter-steering.
I'm cool with them, they're just another group of riders out enjoying the ride.
Yea we got 3 trike dealers within 75 miles of here and they are the builders of trikes too. I have seen them out rideing and passed them. but have not been arround them in the twistys an such to see how they handled.
I bought my heated gloves from a trike dealer in Knoxville and heard her tell a customer that the new Leehan(I think ) add on tride unit to a Goldwing handled real good. But don['t remember her saying what she ment by real good.
Anyways these roadblockers I got behing one of them had 4 cars and be backed up out on the freewaybefore he got to the 30mphexit. Man that sucks big time!! I thought they had some suspendsion to let them lean squat or some such some for turns.
I know they got a wideerrear wheel base than the ol Harley Servacar, butgee whiz, if this is standard operation of these 3 wheel jobs, then they may be OK for the straights but they suck on turns, and I;ll pass em from now on

Coming back from the Laughlin River Run, going 75 on my Heritage, got passed by a trike, must have been going 85 at least. These babies are fast, didn't see him off the road anywhere, so they must handle the turns. Wife wants one, she is handicapped and is waiting for the Harley one.
