I feel your pain........I had my Right hip total replacement in June 2015, and my Left hip total replacement 6 weeks ago. Jan. 14th 2016.
I have a 2011 road king classic and prior to hip replacement riding was miserable. after my first hip i was back to riding after 6 weeks and and after my 2nd replacement back to riding today for the first time, Let me tell you i feel great..... No physical therapy, surgery one day home the next day, Both times.Just follow the rules on stretching, sitting, and walking and all will go good.

I had my left hip replaced 2 months ago. It is a night and day difference and I wish I did it sooner. I rode my bike at 6 weeks and was surprised at how much more comfortable I was because of my new hip. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any specific questions.

I had my right hip done 3 years ago next month. Doc said no riding for 8 weeks, but I was back on the bike in 4 weeks. Before the surgery I had to pull my leg over the saddle. Now it's no big deal. The physical therapy will get you your flexibility back. Walking was the recommended activity for recovery. That helps shed the pounds. Follow the doc's instructions and you will get your life back. Good luck!

Triple check your orthopedist and make sure that most who have used him are happy with him. That makes a lot of difference in a good experience or a bad one.

No hip replacement......but I've had 3 back surgeries including a 3 level spinal fusion on my lower back. Doctor said i was disabled and would never ride again.

I still work....and i still ride. You just have to change things and do whatever is needed to accommodate yourself. I had to have the right seat, ect ect. Really I've had to re manage my whole life that way. But you do it. everything i have and use I've had to cherry pick in order to work around my back troubles. Same concept with the hip i would think. Where there is a will there is a way. But I've also had to accept my limits and respect them. I can't ride 500 miles in a day on a bike, just can't do it. Sometimes i can barely stand up straight after 100 miles, sometimes i feel like 100 bucks after a long ride.

your hip replacement may very well go great and you feel much better! If it does create some limitations you will find a way to work around it
