Default pullback risers

Hi,

I am waiting to get the sevice manual I ordered any day now. I am kinda brave at doing my own repairs and stuff if I have a good idea of what I'm getting into.

Anyway, I want to put pullback risers on my fatboy because I am stretching a little and can see it getting uncomfortable on a long ride.

Is this the type of job a novice can do or is it best left to the pros?

My '03 FatBoy has risers on it, and it made a world of difference in comfort..

I also slightly raised the angle of the grips once the risers were on, and now I can sit there, slightly 'laid back', and the grips are in perfect position.

The risers, plus the Mark 4 Cruise Arms, have made the bike very comfortable during the 'long hauls'....

Also, I didn't have to change cables or anything...

That's what I'm lookin at 6".

Seems like it's a little loosening and replacing longer risers, right? If worse comes to worse, it's just handlebars!!!

Oldfenderguy,

Those look perfect for me. Did you do the job yourself?

What was the approx cost of the risers?

Yeah there isn't that much involved in replacing the risers.

Loosen up the cable frame brackets, take the bar off, unbolt the risers, etc..

I'd have to check, but I believe mine are the HD Deluxe risers (PN 56290-05) that come with a new top clamp, etc. Price was somewhere around $125..

Just put 4" risers on my Dyna. Make sure you check your cable lengths, brake lines etc. to be sure they are long enough. I only had to replace the clutch cable.I dilled my bars and hid the wiring as well. Sure looks cleaner!

You may have to change your cables if they are too short. Do you have the 2" chrome risers? If so, I'll trade you a used pair of 4" pullbacks for them.

There have been a number of threads over in the Softail Forum of people putting 3.5" - 4.0" risers on their FatBoys.

None of them that I can recall (including myself) have had to change out any cables, unless you are changing out the handlebar as well.

Stock cables are plenty long enough, you just need to loosen the clamp holding them when installing the risers to gain a little 'slack'.
