I must say that having my wife behind me when riding motorcyle is great. I drive a lot (solo) for work and have zoned out during long stretches; such that when I reach my next stop; I wonder how I got there. Having the misses on the back, with the occasional shot in the ribs for a wake up call, keeps me alert. Any other aging riders value 2 up riding as much as me?
I agree. My wife loves to ride and I , rarely, go solo. For me, without her on the back is far less fun. She's also my second pair of eyes. She has retired and I'm semi-retired. We hope to do a lot more riding now if I can stay above room temperature.
I do some serious miles with "Red" ( just had our 46th anniversary ) on the back but never "wondered" how I got there. Might be time to re-evaluate your situation, for sure.
"Cocky" ... if that's your "bride" in your avatar, Why are you leaving her at home? :>)
The Wife and I go on 2-300 mile rides every other weekend through-out the summer.
We pack 8 beers (4 is my limit while riding or driving) and head out to a destination generally a State Park.
Once there we just sit and talk about life and enjoy the scenery.
Then after a couple of hours we head back to the house.
We both cherish these rides.
No one goes with us, it's just me and her.
As for her nudging me when my mind starts to wander, I embrace it now that she knows to poke my side and not grab my shoulder.
To answer your question...I do. In fact, I'm staying in today, even with 70° out because I really don't like riding alone. It's boring for one. Secondly, she's my navigator. While I'm watching for texting goofballs, she's looking for streets and places.
