Anyone have any dealings with Thunder Mountain HD in Loveland CO.? Good? Bad? They are trying to tell me if I do my own 1000mi. service on my bike, it will void my warranty. Can anyone offer any dealings with them? Thanks.

That's not a dealer's call to make. It's my understanding that provided that the service is done - as outlined by the service manual schedule -it bears no difference who or where said service is undertaken. Provided you can document (receipts, etc.) that the work has in fact been performed as scheduled, you are well within the confines of your warranty. Sounds to me as though the dealer is solely trying to 'extort' additional service fees from its' customer base.

The 1000 miles service is only $199 anyway. Just have them do it. They just did my 1000 service this morning. It took them about 3 hours. They really check every inch of your bike. The $10,000 mile service is the most expensive.

I don't think they can legally do that. If you don't though, they can make it difficult for you in the future should something go wrong. I would recommend you get it done - like drrandall1 says, they check everything. I might recommend a different dealer though that isn't already copping an attitude.

Thats a load of friggin crap! Don't take it and pay $199 to let them do something that you enjoy doin. At least I speak for myself. How you gonna feel when you go to pick it up and there is a scratch on it? They will try anything to get your money from you. It is absolutely false to say it will void your warranty. They ain't the only "sherriff in town" when it comes to wrenchin. Just make sure you document your work. give me a break! Bubba
