the only luck i've ever had with ear phones for my mp3 player have been the marshmellow kind from jvc. only because they can go right in your ear and you get decent bass response. the ones with the jelly ends never seem to sound good. can anyone recommend something that sounds good other than something that costs 300 bucks. i had the kind that they sell at bike shows, the ones that get molded to your inner ear. they lasted a year then one side had to be repaired, and then only lasted another 6 months.
I use the JVC Marshmellow earbuds as well and have used them for years. My current set is going on 5+years and still going strong. They do provide some of the best bass frequencies of comparable brands at similar price points. I haven't found anything better for under 20 bucks.
Plugfones, cheap, sound good. You won't cry if you break em. Replaceable foam. Sounds good to me. I only put them lightly in my ears, so I can still hear the bike and road noise.

I've also used the headphones that came with my iPhone. They were free and I don't care about them as much. So if I break em or lose them then no biggie.
I've used corded buds, amplified buds, Sharper Image Bluetooth buds, Beats Bluetooth buds, the best I've used ever is LG Tone Ultra 810 Bluetooth.
Second best was Sharper Image Bluetooth and also had great sound protection, but the pair I owned had very short battery life.
The LG Tone 810 Bluetooth are the best overall. Very long battery life, great at blocking wind and motor noise, very loud if you want to crank them up. Fit under a helmet very well. They are the type that fit around your neck and have retractable cords connecting the ear buds. About $65 at Amazon.
