Sounds like a short in the line to me, from your description and knowing nothing else about your bike.
Are your hazards normally activated by a single dedicated "hazards" button, or by depressing both signal switches at the same time? My guess is that yours are by pressing both at the same time and there is a short in there somewhere.
If you have a dedicated "hazards" button (like I do), I'm not sure why your turn signal switches would effect/engage your hazards.
Like was asked above me, if you've done something with the electrical system or have had your grips off for anything, maybe pinched a wire.

I also think you have a short somewhere in your turn signal line. One place to check (and I'm only recommending this because this is exactly what happened to my bike) is to see if there is water in your front turn signal light housing. You need to check both lights by prying off the amber covers and remove the light bulbs. When this happened to my bike, both front turn signals had water in them, but my left turn signal housing had way more water. Once I dried the housing and replaced the bulbs, all was fine again.
