i bought a trailer/toy hauler kinda sortof and it has 2-12 volt lights that are wired into the trailer wiring hookup for the truck so when your parking lights are on, you can turn these on. What I want to do is hook them up to a battery that i want to put in the trailer.
The lights have 1 wire for power and i guess the bulb socket is grounded to the trailer. so what do I have to do to hook this to the battery, put the power to the lights from the battery and run a wire from the negative to the trailer?????
That sounds correct. Find a screw or drill a hole and use a self tapping screw to hook a ground wire from the battery to the trailer. This will complete the circuit.
Also take the tailight wire that is now running the lights and hook it to the pos. post of the battery and it'll help charge the battery when the tailights are on.
