Why not leave it on, if it never activates, you won't notice a thing. If it does, you can then decide if you like the way it runs, and you can always toggle it off.

the system sucks on the new bikes, it activates at 80 degrees air temp. the older system worked much better, it use head temps.

You sure about this? I have already ridden in some hot weather this year, and it does not always activate.

I have the same experience. At least the fans are cooling the heads...which is a good thing.

I haven't heard that anywhere else, and don't know why HD would have done that change.

BTW: it's EITMS (Engine Idle Temperature Management System) not ETMS

Mine does not activate at 80 degree air temp. I just got home from a ride in 95 degree air temp and it did not kick until I let the bike idle for several minutes at a long light. Just the way it is supposed to operate.

I leave mine on. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I don't experience any hesitation or stumble coming off idle when the ETMS is "Active." Now I don't particularly care for how the Engine sounds when the ETMS is "Active," but I definitely appreciate the lower Engine temperature when at a stop.

^^^ My 16 definitely does not. I have been riding in over 80 degree weather for months now, and it only comes on in the heat while sitting at a light for a few minutes.

Add some cooling fans and it will never come on again. I have been using Wards fans for almost 3 years and my EMTS hasn't kicked in since the install.

With fans or not, I would activate it and let it do the task it was designed for.
