Sold the house here in Nebraska. About all we're taking to AZ are the bikes. Anyone know
Where storage can be found, and a cheap place can be found to rent so we have time to look around till we find what we are looking for?

We are relocating to the Phoenix/Tempe area.

How about renting in the area first to see where you want to live?
Get a place with a garage- storage problem solved.
That's the plan I have.

Welcome to AZ...you'll be just in time for the summer heat. You'll get used to it, eventually. Tempe is a college town and unless you want to live around college students, housing can be expensive. Check out the East Valley cities of Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler. They have more variety in housing stock.

Coming from a cool climate thinking that you will get use to a hot climate during the Summer works for about 3 years.

Is there any air pollution in Px?

I have lived on Maui for the past 7 years or so after living in South Florida for 23 years. The only down side is the Hawaiian Culture such as it is. Hawaii is the template for the ultimate Nanny State. The other down side is the cost of living, everything you find on Maui is twice as expensive as on the Mainland due to the cost of shipping. You will acclimate to the weather over time... think NO Snow, NO Ice. The other downside is the fact that you are on an Island approximately 40 miles long by 30 miles wide. I used to say, Tongue in Cheek that if I put more than 100 Miles on during a ride, I'm simply going in circles. As always...

Default Great move, but why Phoenix?

Welcome to Arizona, and yes you will be able to ride ANYTIME you want to.
BUT; why limit yourself to the Phoenix area. Phoenix is without a doubt the HOTTEST part of the state, and the most uncomfortable due to unnatural humidity caused by agricultural irrigation. It also enjoys the MOST expensive COST OF LIVING in the entire state. I came to Arizona from the North East in 1977. I settled in Tucson, and gradually acclimated (every year the heat gets easier to deal with), and I was a HOT TAR ROOFER back then. I can tell you that on any given day in the summer, Phoenix will be at least ten degrees hotter than Tucson and the cost of living in MOST of the rest of the state is much lower. There are many beautiful parts of the state to look at, don't limit yourself. The best advise I could give is check out the White Mountains, Bisbee/Tombstone, Tucson, Casa Grande, before you settle on Phoenix

Welcome to AZ (I split time between AZ and CA). I would also suggest looking around at different areas of the state. I am on the Colorado River, and could not live away from the water, but everyone is different. It gets hot, but it's dry (It actually makes a huge difference). I lived in Texas while in the Army, and I will take the dry AZ heat all day over humid heat. Good luck...

We built a home in Prescott Valley 8 years ago. It's about an hour and a bit North of Phoenix at about an elevation of 5000 ft. It's beautiful with great riding minutes away from the house. And if I want to head to Phoenix for the day, leave at 9 am and I'm in the city by 10.

Zero...you're doing what I'd like to do but I don't want to start over buying a house at my age. And I sure don't have the money to buy one.

Good Luck to you...you're living my dream.
