Absolutely. A motorcycle's natural state is lying on its side, and anything else is a severe test of Newtonian mechanics!

Anybody that has never tipped one is either a liar or has not ridden very long. As long as you are ok that is job 1.

I tipped one on the garage floor trying to get the stupid valve stem on the bottom because of the stupid design of the stupid wheels on my '10 Ultra. Who designs a wheel you cannot put air in without a special extension hose and the stem on the bottom?... that's how they design in the bizzaro world.

Oh did I mention that it's stupid design.

Glad you are OK your pride will heal.

It tends to ease the pressure and insecurity of dropping your bike. You can check that one off of your list.

That's a pretty harsh statement to be making.
Do you actually believe that or just trying to convince yourself?
Since you dropped yours then everyone else must have.

I have dropped mine and make no phony *** excuses about why it happened.
I dropped it.
Plain and simple.

To suggest that everyone drops a motorcycle is just ludicrous.

Not a harley, but last fall I was getting ready to ride the shadow with the wife. Similar story, started backing it down the driveway, slipped on acorns, and backwards and down it went. straight into the side of my wifes car. put a crease from the front fender all the way down the drivers door, dropped the bike (hot) on my leg, busted the front and rear signal lights off, dented one of the lights on the ligthbar and cracked the windshield from pushing the light into it. lotsa no fun.

I'm almost 55, and when it happens, you'll be the first the hear about it.

This is the BIGGEST load of crap I hear on this site! And I'm not a liar. It's what people say who want to make excuses and not take responsibility for their own actions and/or shortcomings. I know PLENTY of guys who have ridden all their lives and never dropped or laid down their bikes. Stop perpetuating this BS. It only makes you look foolish.

Well, in case there were any neighbors watching, I quickly hoisted it upright, hopped on, gunned the throttle, and proceeded to THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DAMN DRIVEWAY. Same thing, front wheel slides in the muddy grass and down we go...
Upon finally arriving to my garage, I hooked up the hose, gave her a much needed rinse, and put her away for the rest of the winter.
Dang, that sounds video-worthy!

Here are a couple videos of picking it up from the kickstand side. In the first video, it's the second of 3 examples.

I figure the sporty's about 200 pounds overweight, the FX even worse...bikes over about 400 pounds lack "bike-e-ness".

this especially obvious when ya have serious problems pickin' 'em up...

but it like sailing - stuff happens. plan for the unthinkable...

sporty crapp'd out and parked by the roadside and two old fellas on dressers rubbernecked as they rode by - it's a pretty sporty.

The pair crashed into one another...

go figure!

The simi missed 'em on a two lane road...

at least 2 G's worth of oh chit!
