I'm putting new tires on my bike and I think I'm gonna use ride on in them. According to their "dosage calculator" each tire should take 8 ounces for a regular dose and ten ounces for severe. I can't find any info on their website about what a severe dose is. I assume all I would need is regular, but I want to make sure before I order it because it comes in 8 ounce bottles and I'm hoping to only need two. Is that right ?
On my Blackline, I used one bottle per tire. On my Breakout, I used 2 bottles for the rear and one for the front. I never worried about 2oz for "severe".
8 oz is for sealing and help balance, the extra two is used if no balancing was done. you can start with one bottle and if your balance does not feel right, you can add 2oz later.
According to JP Cycles on a standard tire only 8 oz per tire is needed.
I've not had a puncture so that aspect has not be tested but the balance is spot on.
With the Ride On, the 'severe' is for those who use the Ride On for balancing without wheel weights or if you're running a tubed tire.
As I use Ride On for balancing without weights and I've also got tubed tires I use their 'severe' recommendations. Check out the last page of the Ride On .pdf HERE; their dosage calculator is HERE
Edited to add: I should have mentioned I pick up the 3 pack of Ride On on eBay; better prices. My Wide Glide with a Pirelli Night Dragon 180/60-17 takes 14 ounces in the rear and the front 90/90-21 Night Dragon takes 7 ounces following the 'severe' recommendations off the dosage calculator.

I have been using it fo a couple years. Just wondering if everyone else has a mess when they change tires? I just put on a new set yesterday and it was pretty gunky. Oddly enough the stuff that "hardened" was on the rim, not the tire. The tires were more still liquid and kinda clear. I thought it was supposed to create a gel like coating along the center of the tire.

So, I'm slightly confused. I was under the impression that one of the main purposes was to eliminate the need for wheel weights and conventional balancing. The PDF instructions say for balancing without weights, tube tires, or severe application 25% more can be used. The chart says 9 ounces for a MU85/16. On the online calculator it says 140/85 /16 takes 8 ounces. Those are equivalent tire sizes right? If my goal is to use no wheel weights, do I NEED severe dosage. If I go with regular, do I need 8 or 9 ounces?
