is it normal?
i have a 2000 heritage , and i traded my 96 sporty on it , i was use to the sounds that my sporty made, but riding this heritage i notice alot of top end noise, it dosn't lack power, but it does have 71,000 miles on it, the reason that i went for it was that it was cherry, it looked like it was taken care of, i have original owners manual and all service records are still in it and filled out by dealership, i called the dealer i bought it from and there service dep. told me that they are all like that , is he telling me the truth or is it just dealer B.S.................appreciate your input.

My guess is that the noise you are hearing is the counterbalancers rolling around in there. All the Softails since 2000 have a counterbalanced engine, and they have some different sounds because of the balancers.

If you are riding with the windshield you could also be getting the sound reflecting off the shield. I ride most of the time without mine and notice a big difference in the sound when I put it on.
