Default Fatboy Whitewalls

My 06 Fatboy has about 7500 miles on it. I'm leaning towards going with the wide whitewalls. Is anyone doing this on theirs. I have the chrome laced(spokes).I checked with the dealer yesterday and the only one we could find in 150 WW was the Cruisemax by Dunlop. Anyone have their opinions on this tire? Does anyone know of another tire brand that's compatible? I'm going ahead and replacing the front tire as well to match. I asked my dealer about how many miles one should expectto get on a set of tires with normal driving. This was beforeI mentioned new tires and he said about 4-6000 on rear and 10-12000 on the front. Is this about par? He also mentioned that I could go with a tire that fits the RK in WW but would be a little narrower. I'd prefer the 150. That's why I bought the fatboy in the first place. FYI, the price quoted is $530 which includes $122 labor to remove, mount and balance both tires with new tubes. For the price of labor I'm not going to mess with it. Thanks

I'm thinking of whitwalls for my 05 Fatboy at the next tire change.

I don't know about mileage but I got great mileage out of the original Dunlops that came new on the bike. I still have the front and changed the rear at 20,000 miles, I ride solo better than 95% of the time. I hear guys raving that they got 10,000 miles out of a rear tire but I got twice that and there was still tread when I replaced it.

Wide White Walls kick a$$!

I love them... Try the Metzeler ME880, it's a great tire and gives good mileage.

A box of Brillo pads is all you need to keep the white walls looking spiffy. Takes about 10 min every other week to clean them up. To me white walls really accent the bike - black wall tires are zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

I'm seriously considering whitewalls come tire change time (which will be awhile). I may also switch to spokes then, only thing is..I don't like the idea of having tubes, not being able to fix on the road, etc.

Laird Hill? Used to be known as Pistol Hill back in the oil boom days. Comin' up to Jefferson for the Boo Benefit this fall?

Which dealer are you checking with - Longview or Tyler?

Here's an online place to check. Ain't sayin' you gotta buy 'em from there, but you might find a tire and can have your dealer, indy shop get it & mount it. http://www.discountmotorcycletire.com/

You could also search the actual tire company sites and find the tire, then have someone order it.

I'm glad to hear the positive responses to whitewalls on the Fatboy. When I put 80 spokes on mine everyone said Fatboys should have solid wheels. Now they say wow. More importantly, I say wow. Except when it's polishin' time.I do believe I'll go with whitewalls. More than likely Metzellers.

I just installed my Metzeler 880 WWW today (Sat) and I love the look now. I had Avons on it and in my humble opinion is that the Metzelers handle as good or even better. I am working graveyard shift this week and rode into work tonight. I'll try and post some pics tomorrow. Bubba
