Going Down
Eh, things happen when you ride. I came up to a stop sign once with lots of traffic. Paying attention to the traffic, did not notice a very small pothole to the right of my bike several inches lower than the rest of the road. Put my right foot down while watching traffic, foot goes down an extra 4-5 inches than what I was expecting, and slowly laid it down. No damage luckily.
Could I have avoided it? Maybe. Thing is, this stop sign was at the end of a street by my work, and I stopped at it every day on the way home. Just so happens, overnight, this hole popped up and I did not notice it. I could take 10 basic riders courses and I'm pretty it would not have kept me from doing what I did.

Then there are the others who chime in and say **** like, "awe, don't feel bad, it happens to everyone, blah, blah, blah". Well NO, if you pay attention, and keep your wits about you, it DOESN'T happen. Do you sympathetic posters think that you're doing the "offender" ANY good at all by glossing over the mistake/s he/she made? You're actually doing him/her an injustice by excusing actions/behaviors that in no way should be excused, when you're riding on 2 wheels. If your child ran into the street and almost got hit by a car, would you say, "Oh it's ok sweetie, don't feel bad, we all do that now & then"?? NO, you'd make it a teaching opportunity so that your child learns something from it... wouldn't you?
Sid if your chest still hurts tomorrow maybe you should stop by your doctors office just to be on the safe side.
