Default same lane passing

I am not sure if this happens to a lot of you but here's my beef. While out riding yesterday, I got passed 2 seperate times in my own lane by 1Flh riding 2 up and 1Dyna riding 2 up. Both of these bikes were going at least 20 over the speed limit with on coming traffic. The country roads I ride on usaualy have pot holes andchunks missing close to the shoulders soI usually stay in the left hand portion of my lane. It bugs the crap out of me to have to move over when a bike decides to pass me in my own lane. If I wasn't always looking behind me, and had to swerve to change lanes, these 4 people would now be dead or badlyhurt. WTF is wrong with people, can't they just slow down and enjoy the ride without putting ME in danger. The next time this happens I am going to move into the middle of the road and they can pass me when it is safe to do so. Thats the end of my rant for today..Mark..

Quit riding so slow

Actually you're right, if you're going to pass me, you better be in the other lane

Passing in the same lane is illegal in most states. When I see someone behind me like that, I'll move to the center of the lane.

i agree with you. i don't like it when someone sneeks up behind me and either passes me or rides right beside me.it doesn't give either one of us room to swerve if necessary.

Rude....And dangerous. When I ride alone, I use the entire lane. It is mine to use and I don't share it unless I signal others to 'move up' or 'move past'.

There's no 'lane splitting' in Michigan. Do that at your own risk up here...You might just end up facing either on coming traffic, or the ditch.

ask most leo's and they will tell you it's safer to let them by instead of keeping them behind you so that they can tailgate you. i'd rather they just pass me. chances are if they are passing you they are also looking at the conditions and feel it's a safe time to do so.

yes but even if they think it is safe to do so.. there is no way for them to know what I am thinking,, or if I am going to move into the right side of MY lane to avoid a pot hole or something...just because they think it is safe does not give them right to enter my lane and put me in danger.. with oncoming traffic who knows what is going to happen

When travelling 2 lane country roads, I like to take it easy and enjoy the scenery, so I rarely go much above the speed limit, and even sometimes stay under it. If I see other riders coming up faster behind me, and it's safe to do, I'll move over to the ride side of the lane and wave them by. I have no problem with letting faster moving bikes by, but if some a-hole comes blasting through my lane when I'm not expecting it, it pisses me off. Conversely, I won't pass another rider in their lane unless they wave me by.

Cheers!

The situation requires courtesy from both sides. It is rude and dangerous to pass in the same lane. The rider wanting to pass should hang back until signaled it is ok to pass. The rider being passed should if and when safe move over and signal the rider in the back it is ok to pass. This is just my opinion. Having said that "don't pass me in my lane, it really pi$$es me off! This usually happens to me by sport bikes on I95. Several times I was cruising about 75-80 and was passed in my lane by a sport bike doing a hundred and whatever. Don't hear or see them untill they're right alongside. One swerve and it's all over. They change lanes about 10 times per mile. We complain about cagers but bikers should of all people be courteous to other bikers.
