Default Trailer Advice

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'll give it a try.
Last year I bought my 06 NightTrain in Tyler Texas and rode it to California, up the coast to Washington, then back down to San Diego where I shipped it home here to Hawaii. IM DIEING TO DO A MAINLAND TRIP AGAIN!! Planning the first part of 2008.
The only problem I had was carrying my gear. I had the hard saddle bags that are for the Night Train and they don't hold anything. I had everything piled over the saddle bags and high on the back seat. Very cumbersome. Almost lost it a couple times when I had to break fast. Because I'm going long distance I need a little more room to carry tools and what not.
I'm considering getting a small trailer to pull behind the Train. My friends think this is ridiculous. Is this a bad idea? I've seen a few pictures of bikes pulling trailers, very few. Is this not wise? Is it hard to drive? I know it may not look cool, but for traveling long distances, I'd think this would be the way to go.
Please let me know what you think. If you know where to look into buying one. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I don't know about a Night Train's towing specifics, but if doable, I would do it. Convenience and comfort is what it is all about, IMHO. Now, I think your trailer should look, shall we say, 'in tune with your riding machine', you know...you don't want to pull one of those lawnmower trailers. I think the fold-up ones (with beds inside) would be the way to go if taking an extended trip. Allows the flexability of stopping/camping when you want (without motel/hotel reservations...gee, got here early at 2PM, now what do I do). Also, they have lots of storage. My in-laws pulled one around for three years after they retired. They had a blast travelling all over the country, thru Canada, and motel/hotel stops when they felt like it.

I wish I would have bought my trailer many years ago. Just remember it is back there and you'll be fine. I say that, because most of the time you actually forget you've got anything hooked up.

On my back is what I needed for a week in the mountains, food included. Same pack works great for longer hauls. Can carry 60-80 lbs of kit. Just strap it down good. If you're not camping, you won't need the bedroll.'Course, that sissy bar is needed.

The Delphi forums have an entire forum devoted to pulling trailers with motorcycles and every conceivable question you might have has already been answered there. You will have to register to access the forums, but like this one, it's free.

How about a rack and a T-bag? You could also easily purchase bigger saddlebags and the T-bag for much less than the cost of the trailer. Even doing some light camping,I can carry all I need in a T-bag andsaddlebags (with the sleeping bag strapped on the other side of the t-bag).

I pulled a trailer on a touring rig, and after doing it I personallywould much rather not pull a trailer.

I agree with BG. Check the Delphi forum. It has all the information you could ask for. An awesome forum with awesome members.

As for the Train... that trailer hitch would look UGLY with the bobbed fender... but it'd be fun fielding all the questions you would get along the way!
