Switchback, Sportster 72, Fat Boy Lo, and I think one of the Low touring bikes are the ones that got the axe this year.
They are still there but being phased out mid year or so the mothership literature said at the big yearly dealer expo. Video with that is running around youtube somewhere
Given that the engine won't go into non-touring models for probably a year or two, I wonder how this will effect sales of non-touring bikes ? If I were in the market for a new Dyna or Softail right now, I would probably be thinking maybe I should hold off and wait a season or two. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
I think this will probably boost sales of bikes for people who have been sitting on the fence on whether to move to a touring model. There also will probably be a lot of must-have-it-now folks trading in their Rushmore models.
Regardless, personally I would wait a season or two anyways just to let the engineers weed out issues and work out possible kinks once all the owners of the new bikes start collectively logging millions of miles. That's really the only way the engineers will know for sure how the new design pans out in the real world. Things look good on paper and in the lab but there are always unforeseen issues that arise with any new design.

I'm interested in the Vrod deletion. Do you have any more intel on that?
After watching that video I am curious why so many keep saying you will have to remove the rocker box to change plugs. They look accessible to me.
I see that too but it also looks like somebody with little skills and fumble fingers can dink that knock sensor and it looks like you'd have to have a skinny plug socket, most won't. Also it won't be just lifting tank a bit I see cross threading as a real issue for amateurs.
