I have a 2016 Road Glide Special. I have put new RC mufflers, cut out the cat and new air breather along with a EJK tuner on it. My question is, can I run it WITHOUT the tuner? Just mufflers and air breather? I just don't like the tuner and really don't think I need it but want the air breather and mufflers.
Thanks

If you increase the intake air flow you will also have to increase the fuel. Otherwise the engine will probably run too lean when not in closed loop mode. Pinging, high heat, and power loss, are signs of a lean condition. So you do need something to avoid that.
Nope, if you've de-catted and opened the intake, you need a tune. You can remove the EJK and get a stock HD "street" flash...
My recommendation is to get a FP3. Flash it, auto-tune it, remove it and forget about it.
If you're too freakin' lazy and/or cheap to learn about and attend to the needs of your $20,000 bike, do yourself (and the bike) a favor: sell it to somebody who will and buy a more maintenance-free Goldwing.

Mood-dog, not a good idea to run your combo without a tuner. It will run lean and warmer. The decat header and the RCx mufflers are a good combination, but I know you lost low end torque after the decat. I am not familiar with your tuner, but you can make a gain in your low end power with, BCT baffales, Smartpartz baffles, or the DK Custom TTI's. I have "flash" tuned my last 2 twin cams with good results with your exact combination.

Vance and Hines FP3 is probably your quickest, easiest, best bang for the buck, way for you to go. A,B,C, D, and you're there. When all done, remove, put back in it's neat little box, and shelve it 'til you change pipes again or whatever. Smart phone required but not overly smart person to do it.
