thats pretty cool the guy pulled up and opologized..I see people 90 percent of the time scoot over and share the lane..but I know theres the occasional jack hat..

I think there are drivers who just think if they're stuck, you should be stuck too, even if you're able because of being on a smaller, more agile vehicle to get out and on your way.

years back I was at a stop light that also had some construction happening in one lane. I was able to get by, but a driver saw me move and just cut over a couple feet to block off my route. wouldn't have hurt or affected him at all, just didn't want to see me get by. that was when I rode a street trail bike and could have just hopped up the curb and went around him (truthfully I don't know why I didn't. I used to enjoy aggravating people like that back then).

I think I got most of my confrontational ya-yas out when I had that bike, a big 600cc trail bike on the street is a pretty fun thing.

another time in that same period I was on a 3-4 lane city street at a stoplight, when a car pulled into the farthest right lane (where cars normally park) to take off on me when the light changed. I knew what he was going to do, but since he was in a Datsun z car I figured he wouldn't slow me down, so I let him do it. but it was like he wanted to lead the parade. he slowed down as soon as he was in front, so I did the same thing at the next light and got back in front. he tried to get back in front again, but I just didn't let him.

when we get to the next light he rolls down my window and starts yelling what's my problem. I shrugged and told him I didn't have one, and when the light changed I kept him behind me again. he eventually gave up and just stayed behind me.

I'm not as aggressive about stuff like that now, so if someone goes though that kind of effort I just let them in front, even if they slow down again (truthfully, that seems to be a lot of Harley riders now). I still don't get it though, if you want to drag your butt, why make me be stuck behind you while you do it?

edit: oh, and noise. the noisiest bike I've had I didn't like myself, and eventually got stock pipes for it. but before I got them I just kinda asked a couple of the neighbors if they were bothered by the pipes. they happened to be outside when I was doing some test rides (a bike I got that needed some repair), so I just asked while I saw them. they said it was fine, but I figured it was good to ask anyway.

I think 90% of my neighbors ride. It's pretty much the culture around here. That said, none of us have loud pipes and we behave.

Had a neighbor at a house I rented a number of years ago. Nice guy, but he would fire up his straight piped Evo every morning at 5AM to be to work by 6. Naturally he had to let it warm up. I never said anything and he ended up moving out shortly anyway.

I keep my lawn mowed so my neighbors don't mind my bike.

I love my early morning rides. But I'm considerate of my neighbors and always roll the bike out to the street before I start it and keep the RPM's down while in the neighborhood. I think they appreciate that so I've not had any complaints or sideways looks.

On one occasion, I was splitting lanes, (very sensibly), and came upon a woman who just didn't want me getting past her - guess she was one of those "life isn't fair" people who felt that if she had to sit in dead stopped traffic so did I. She kept swerving in to the next lane every time she saw that I was trying to roll past. I finally gave up and worked my way around her by moving over two lanes. It wasn't really a confrontation because I'm not going to let other people's issues affect me and set me off - life's too short.

Nope,

Because confronting someone is a good way to DIE

Do you want DIE, because that's how you get to DIE

I've had beer bottles thrown at me, and a pickup cut close in front of me and locking it up to a full stop on a freeway, all for no apparent reason. In both cases I just evaded.

I've been blown out of my lane by a helicopter that I didn't see coming up on me, but I don't know if the pilot realized it would do that to me; he didn't get close again.

Kinda, sorta, once a while back. My kids were riding their little electric scooter in the cul-de-sac at the end of my street. Someone called the police and reported them and actually told the officer they were LOUD and also not street legal. Officer arrived and told me what happened. Really nice guy and said no trouble just have them ride on the other side of the block, I said no problem. He laughed as he pointed at the Harley in my garage and said, "hey that's street legal why don't you ride by his hose with that". I did, about 100 times that day. He called the police back out, same officer showed up, and told him too bad, I had every right to ride my street legal bike on a public road. He got the picture, apologized for complaining about the kids. Some people just ain't happy and want others to be miserable too.

Never had any. My neighbors, their kids, and dogs make plenty of noise. So, I do not worry or care what they like or do not like when I am starting my Low Rider or 2002 Camaro Z28 with the 408 stroker running long tubes.
