I love my bike...but today I took a look at an 07 Softail Custom in vivid black. It's the bike I've always wanted BUT it's pricey..about 17k.Iwas offered 8,500 on my 07 1200XL Custom in trade..it has 3800 miles on it. I believe the trade value is a fair deal but mine is paid for and I'd be picking up almost 10k in finance charges to get a new custom...any advice?
Hard to advise someone on financing that much money, You know if you can afford it or not.
I am very happy with my paid for sportster and wouldnt even consider a different bike. But if its what you want.... and you can pay for it without suffering.... ya only live once.
I dont care for the ride of those big ole bikes. The sportster is just... sporty. Have you rodea softievery much?
PS. are ya sure you wont want a deluxe next year?
(I just checked out your gallery, your bike is awesome, No way I would trade for that ole fat bike)...

8500 is about as good as it gets for a used Sporty, unfortunately....
How much sacrifice will you have to make in your life to get this bike? If really not much at all, then do it....ohterwise wait and get a used one farther down the road.......
The big twins do need a few things to be ready to last "forever".....a re-tune, with pipes and aircleaner, and gear driven cams with Torrington cam bearings, to get rid of the cam shoes......A new seat if you're a tall guy, as the stocker pushes you forward WAY too much.....I don't know, it's your money not mine. If it was me, I'd pass and buy a used Big twin....there are alot of them in the market right now, IMHO...
The FXSTC is an AWESOME bike. I also had a Sportster before I got the Softail. For one it's way more comfortable. Second the cool factor is unbelievable. I say go for it, work overtime or get a second job, it's worth everypenny IMO.
