Comprehensive is fire, theft and vandalism. What part of hitting or avoiding a dog is that? Damage to the bike is covered by collision coverage, less deductible. Medical coverage is also part of a motor vehicle policy, if you buy it. Otherwise OP's medical insurance will cover medical care, less deductible.
Read the last paragraph at this link...
"With Comprehensive coverage, your insurance company pays for damage to your auto caused by an event other than a collision, such as fire, theft or vandalism. If you hit an animal, or if your auto is flooded or stolen, Comprehensive coverage will apply."
I was told one time that in order to file under comprehensive you had to hit the animal. Agent told me do not swerve and hit a tree because it then does not fall under comp but collision.

We have had a few animal vs. vehicle insurance claims. You always say the animal hit you, not you hit the animal... I can't remember who told us this, but I think it was a claims adjuster.
Friggin' dogs are a GD nuisance if there ever was one...they bite, bark,****, & stink, & people STILL feed them! I hate the sonsabitches with a passion! Only thing worse is inconsiderate dog owners. Got a lot of those scumbags here in Florida;especially pitbull owners. They are the same idiots with jacked-up pickups with the steel ***** hanging from the hitch. ***** effin'Douchewads. hadda leave my last neighborhood because of it, otherwise I'd prolly just be getting out of jail right now. I don't keep my dog outside for just that reason.
Sue the bastard for everything. Only way these idiots learn is hit 'em in the wallet.

Same in Japan! Everyone keeps their dog tied outside and layin' and livin' in the dirt. They bark at every one and everything (and their kids act about the same). Our dogs stay in the house. They only bark when someone comes to the door, or when we tell them to "speak" or "say please."

t.
I think it is just a phrase used, when the bike goes down.
"Laying it down" is deliberately done by the rider, usually to avoid a collision with a vehicle or another object that the rider doesn't want to hit.
"Crashing" is when the bike goes down due to the rider's loss of control.
They're not the same thing.
