Fivethousand miles on a tire ? I would switch brands , that is the worst I exer heard of !
ORIGINAL: tail11

I've been riding on Pirellis. They are good for the money and they do stick on turns fairly well. I change my rear out every 5k and my front every 10k or so.

so which is it that lasts longer? the metzler or the dunlop? i am getting 10K from dunlops on the rear of my RK. i ride 2 up always and have a tour pack. i am looking for a longer lasting rear tire and was considering the metzler but i dont hear any hard evidence. how long should i expect it to last? thanks to any who reply.

I like Dunlop.
They make more tire specs and have more race experience than anybody on the planet.
The new E-3 and the 200MM D407 are made right here in Buffalo, NY.

Wish Dunlop made the Elite 3 in a 150/80b/16...Have one on the front and love it, but do not want to switch to a narrower tire for the rear (MU-80b-16)...Am having to replace the rear tire later this week and going with the Avon Venom X

IMO stock tires are just that, stock. They are okay I guess. I changed to Metzler ME880's when I wore them out and I swear by the Metzlers now. Much better and well worth it as far as I am concerned. Swap them out.

The Dunlops work just fine. I get 12K out of the rear and 21-22K out of the front. Can't beat the mileage or the availabilty.

Dunlops are good tires and last long.
