380 is not a bad round, as long as you are a good shot and get a heart or headshot. I am a cop and I have seen bad guys shoot each other with .40 calibers, one guy was shot seven times and lived. Go for the bigger more powerful caliber and use a personal defense load like the federal hydrashok. Makes a big hole in the bad guy and doesn't over penatrate. So you don't get the innocent bystander getting hit with a through and through. Just a helpful hint.

Wear one because I like it. Personally, mine is denim, never was a leather person myself. I guess it does add some protection, patches? I have 20 or more, pins and the whole bit, may get to actually putting them on a vest someday, for the time being, they're in a plastic bag. For some it may be an image thing although an awful lot of the people you see with the biker look probably wouldn't know where to put a key on a bike let alone ride one. Never could see dressing the part, whether you ride or not, it's kind of winds up like the HS kids who all dress to express their "indivduality", but end up looking like everyone else anyway.

Traditional biker "uniform"- black boots, black jeans, black leather vest. Looks great on some, just not me.

I wear one if I am Hwy riding especially if I am wearing a loose fitting T-shirt. It helps to keep it from flying up in front and back. Beats having to keep pulling my shirt down all the time.

Bottom line:
Holds everything in place (so I don't flash other motorists), has pockets, and keep me warmer than going without it.

It's near impossible to get a carry permit up here in the land of the beavers, so the Glock issue is a non starter for us. However as for the other utilities of a vest, think of a pretty lass with nothing on but an open vest, a thong and some chaps - enough said.

I just got in from a ride and was thaankful to have my leather vest! WHen I took off Fri. it was in the upper 80's and beaautiful. I loaded a few over night neccesities in my t-bag on the back of my train and hit the road in a sleeveless t shirt. I left my buddies house this morning at 7:00 wearing the long sleeve tshirt and hit the road home. Long about Wikiup Az. (AZ highway 93) the wind started to pickup and got cooler, I pulled my vest outa the t-bag and kept at it. By the time I rolled into Kingman it was 30mph head wind. Without that leather vest I'd have been miserable for at least 70 miles of my return trip. Once I got closer to the river it warmed up enough to open a buttton or to but not so warm as to be uncomfortable. The vest is easy to pack if you use it or not, the jacket only comes out when I know it's going to be to cool.
