Finding local events isn't an issue. There is usually something every weekend.

Im just not sure how to integrate into the happenings. Its been a long time since I've tried to be in crowds.

That integrating thing is what the local hog chapter helped with. The local HOG rides are rarely more than five or six riders in my area. But after a couple of rides with them I knew (and felt comfortable with) a couple of them that were into going to some of the larger poker runs and bike events in the area.

So, thanks to the folks I met at the smaller HOG rides, I wasn't going to the bigger runs alone.

Well theres no need to just run out and buy a bunch of patches I didn't earn or work for.

Not that I won't have a vest or chaps, Hell there are times when thats the smart choice for PPE. Its starting to get cold out, You can bet I'll have some chaps and leather soon.

I'll have to look into my local HOG group. Thanks to all that suggested this.

I used to like group rides, now they scare the hell out of me.
Better to ride in small groups of 3 or 4.
Watch the papers and check the bulletin boards in the dealer. There are runs every weekend somewhere in the summer. Be careful and make your own choice.
Some folks dont belong riding in a group. JMHO

If you want to fit in ... show up at a ride and ride your bike. Be yourself and have fun.

Im new to the world of Harley, just picked up my first one last week. Still getting use to the different riding style from my usual sport bike.

I guess my questions are, What do I need? (other than entry fee)
Do i just try and fall in and follow groups from point to point?
Or should I just stick to riding solo? I'm sure I will meet people along the way.

any tips or expectations i will run into....

Too many varibles from group to group, to give you any solid advice, so Im just gonna say play it by ear and make sure you can ride, and keep up.
And if you are an experienced rider don't hot dog, just slowly work your way in you will be fine.

If you choose HOG, just show up at a dairy queen at noon on any Saturday.
