The 14 and up touring line are all Rushmore project bikes. They made changes to the 103 tc engine, larger front suspension and redesigned saddlebags with 1 touch latches.
The biggest changes to the lineup was on Street Glides, Ultras and in 15 on the Road Glide. The redesign brought a different fairing setup with vented openings to reduce buffeting, hand control changes, abs/linked braking and infotainment radios.
The linked braking and navigation radios were upgrades on the standard SG, RG and Ultra. Those items came stock on the SG and RG Special and Ultra Limited along with security.
The Ultra Limited and SG Cvo came with water cooled heads in 14 and newer. RG Ultra followed in 16. The 17 models are also considered the Rushmore platform with the new M8 engine.
I'm sure I missed something, but that's all I got right now.
Project Rushmore was mainly the wet heads in certain bikes, mostly the ones that had lowers since that is where most of the plumbing reside..
This was "" revolutionary " in the eyes of HD
All of the other upgrade are merely an " evolutionary. " of the product line, nothing to do with project Rushmore?..
All 2014 Touring were and are "Rushmore" project bikes all with the same base of improvements then higher on the food chain got more goodies.
Remember, though - some guys like to make their own categories to make themselves feel better. There's one guy on the forum that insists that a Road King isn't even a touring bike because it has no fairing.
