Wow, A 2 stroke triple, I had a 750 H2 at 16 years old, then you could have a bike permit before a car license & just keep extending it,ah the good days.

when my Dad found out what I had I was only allowed to ride that bike in town until he felt I was ready - seemed like forever. I handed that down to my Brother, we bought as much H2 parts as we could because it was hard to find those parts, also bought a Z1-900, he later sold those bikes as finances in the late 90`s got tough for his job field.

Sad thing is we have hit Mid-Ohio & when he sees the asking price for those bikes now........WOW he was sitting on 50-60K worth of stuff - but you couldn't give away a H2 back then - Now a different story.

I know what the OP means cause my brother mentioned above went down early this year, we went riding in Late march, nice day but here in PA all that road salt & cinders gather in the bends - well he went down & 2 weeks in AGH of Pittsburgh, 8 broke ribs, punctured Lung & broke clavicle later he made it home.

An angry man cause now his bike needs rebuilt & he's eating stool softeners like candy LOL, Good news - He was wearing a helmet, we rebuilt the bike which faired better than him & we rode to Mid Ohio vintage bike days in july.

So - what one learns from such is to be more careful & observant I guess, He says to this day that from time to time he thinks about it & it can cause him a little nervousness - his cure, crack the throttle hard & give it hell then when you come down to "Legal" speed it don't seem to bad, LMFAO

Ride safe all, My Bro`s doing good & if not for the Lid he would be dead or a vegetable, nothing is worse than looking in your mirror & seeing someone down - the real scary part is going back to them, you don't know what you`re gonna see!

Rear kicks out and he is just getting into the most turning part of the curve. Almost saved it and ran out of road and off into the grass shoulder. Bike caught the edge of the road and starts down on left side and suddenly snaps to the right and over. He leaves the bike and hits the road ahead of bike. We are 3 miles from my house!!
He went to hospital but is ok other than being extremely sore, nothing broken. I have relived this in my mind way too many times.
One really scratched up'14 ultra but my friend is going to be ok.
You should probably sell your bike.

Gravel is my only real fear in riding around here, it can "turn in front of you" faster than any texting teen. I've never been down on the street but any time I've been close it was gravel.

500 triple.... mine had a twist down friction steering dampener, and a frame to fork hydraulic dampener from the factory.... still wobbled lol.

I don't know about that. All it takes is a kid in a cage peeling out from the gravel to the pavement to make a mess where a perfectly clean intersection once existed. There are gravel/paved intersections all over my neck of the woods. Some have gravel all over the pavement all the time, some stay clean almost all of the time. Every once in a while an intersection that has stayed "clean" all summer will suddenly have gravel all the way across the pavement. Just sayin'....

If you can walk away from a crash, its a happy ending.
That is what my flight instructor told me on my first solo flight. LOl

That's the problem with "familiar" roads.
We think we know them because we travel them so often that we let our guard down and cruise on.

Not judging but nothing stays the same.

Glad your buddy came out as well as he did.

Glad he's okay - sometimes things happen and you just have to brush yourself off and move on....
