never really got it, figured those that covered were those that would search. I have locked the house 3 times in 28 years and had to break in twice.
I suppose their is a plus side to living in a big city with who knows who up your *** and guarding all your stuff 24-7.

makes as much sense as not filling out profile or not listing location(really, you're afraid to say what state you're from?) then asking questions that we need to know those things to answer.

Yea, but why make it easy for crooks? It took all of 10 seconds to scope out your house and see you have nobody around your always unlocked house except for the house to the north, which isn't close enough to hear someone loading all your stuff. Someone with bad intentions would only have to wait for you to post about your next vacation to know when and where to come clean you out.

I think I will continue covering mine.

As others have said, it is another possible way for identity thieves to get your information and open up accounts and credit cards in your name. It happens and getting it straightened out takes time and the work is all on you.

Bottom line: better safe than sorry I say. But, then again, do what ya want. Just don't bitch if something happens.

Back in the bad old days before harleys became everyone's favorite toy **** did happen, wasn't hard to get an address with a tag number even the guys from the wrong side of the tracks knew somebody or had a connection. You could always tell who the experienced guys were at the winter bike shows , those who pulled their tags. Was always a rash of bike theft's the month after a good show.

Fast forward today it's a freaking playground for the nefarious types out there between quantity and the casual cluelessness of the average owner.

Someone with access to the right databases can find out a lot of info with a plate number.

I think it's because they got some embarrassing vanity plates they don't want forum members to see! "TUF-GUY" or BAD-AZZ" 2-KOOL", that's gotta be the answer to the OP's question. Now, where the fugg did I put my gas cap??? Oh, wait- here it is. Gotta go now, it's time for my cooking show.
