just had a 2017 streetglide special delivered to my garage. as i live in Minnesota i can only sit in the seat and play the radio. lol. I ordered it by looks and reputation alone never had a test ride. Coming from a 2015 king. For those of you lucky enough to have a new 8 and the weather to ride what do you think? Can you give me the good and bad and any flaws youve found? What about slip on pipes? Are the stock pipes sufficient for quality sound. The dealer told me the street cannon s dont make much difference. Let me know
what you think of the new bike so I can make it thru this winter. thanks
You'll like the bike overall, finest motorcycle I've ever ridden. Only things I've found annoying is the clutch but I'm used to the old cable and being able to adjust it these you can't and the shifting on the tranny tends to be noisy clanks much worse than my old 4 speeds. Far as the stock pipes a popcorn fart's louder , probably why the shift clunking bothers me I can hear it . Go over to the M8 forum and check the vids in this thread https://www.hdforums.com/forum/milwa...on-s-time.html
I just ordered the Fuel Motos M8 Jackpot Slash units for mine, very good price on them too.
I did close to what you're doing... I went from a '16 Road King to a 17 SGS.
You're going to love it!!! Read up on the Boom audio manual while winter is here (you're not going to want to pull over and stop to read it once the weather gets nice). If you don't like the antenna think about how good your radio reception is before you change out to a smaller one - I live on the fringes of a city radio broadcast range and the shorty antenna really cut down on my options.
The windshield height is different than on a Road King and it may take some experimentation to get the right size for you.
The ride is so much better than the older models its hard to put into words... the front suspension is about as much an upgrade as the motor is!
