Default Chinese Harley?

I have a harley and wouldn't want to own anything else, but when you go into the dealers and look at all the accessories they sell, almost every thing is from china or twiwan or BF egypt. I wonder what percent of Harleys have to be made in the USA to still be called an American bike? AN Inquireing mind wants to know.

I believe in auto's it has to be 75% US content. And that's based on value, not count. So you can make many cheap parts overseas if you make the high dollar parts here. I'll double check..

Cars must be 70% or more domestic weighted value content to be called US made for CAFE standards (Corporate Average Fuel Economy).

Bikes?

Don't know how old that book is Craig, but I'm guessing it's a lot less than 95% now.
I don't have any links myself, just expressing my opinion.

Almost all of HD's accessories are made in China. They all might be for that matter....as I try real hard not to buy foreign made products that I don't have to have. I don't have to have all the nice accessories to keep the bike running! If I want an accessory for my bike and it says...Made in China or other similar countries....I simply don't buy it. I keep looking.

Most aftermarket accessories are made in China as well. Once again, I try my damnest to buy American. My last resort is to buy foreign. I don't have problems with foreign products, but I want to support my country first.

My friend and I were riding about two weeks ago.....and the dealer had one of the American flags that hook to the back of the bike. It said, Made in China! Chit.....we can't even make our own flags anymore.

Damn I miss the 60's and early 70's.....We still made most of our chit. Not anymore! Alot of the pride we had back then; well vanished. Sad it is....

if you need a metric wrench to work on a part on your bike, you just found a part that was made overseas.
