Default top speed limiter

I tuned a breakout using the screaming eagle street interface and on the dyno the bike will only pull to 114 mph. which it reaches at 5700 rpm's in 4th gear.

I did a couple searches and can not find any threads on this which I find surprising.

any one have any insight if this is normal and if it can be disabled

thanks

Rev limiter is there for a reason and most cams quit making horsepower before reach the max anyway. Would really suck to grenade a motor just because you wanted to dick around on the dyno, seen it happen....

Yep ... Unless you've "reset" the rev limiter, it'll "give up at @ 5,700 rpm's ...

Why would you push your bike to 5,700 RPM's? I love my bikes too much to do that. My 6 speed Road Glide I got to 115 in 5th gear but don't think the tach was close to that. My 98 cu S&S Road King about the same speed but too busy to notice the aftermarket tach.

A TwinCam 88 with a conservative 95" build will do 115 mph in 5th gear, and that's rolled on in 5th gear w/no redlining.
You're doing something wrong.

Maybe one of your 14 other bikes will go faster?

Wanna go beyond 5700rpm? Why? Stress testing for HD? It's a cruiser type engine. Root word here is "cruise."

Each to their own. Some people buy to ride, others keep trying to improve & one up the next guy. Just human nature

114 MPH Hmmmmm good to know but I have no plans to see it go there. As long as I am comfortable cruising all day and can jump up easily to 85-90 if I need it to pass on the interstate then drop back to a comfortable cruising speed around 75 I am good to go

My Evo has a Sreamin' Eagle ignition module (no rev limiter), among other performance things. I lifted the front end one day, and snapped the belt going into second. It revved high enough to flatten a vavle seal. It ran OK (smoked a little at idle), but we pulled the heads and fixed it at the first opportunity. It's been clocked at 117 mph (and still pulling).
(Damn kids) Yeah, I don't do that stuff anymore. But it's nice to know you can.
