Take Rt 234 towards Manassas and turn onto Rt 619. You can branch out from 619 onto numerous other back country roads. There is a 4 way stop on 619 called Aden road. If you make a left it will take you around Marine Corps Base Quantico and you will end up on Rt 610, Garrisonville Rd in Stafford. Make a right and it will bring you back to Rt 234. Great roads to ride with minimal traffic and great sights. I am out of town until next week. When I get back we can link up and go for a ride.
hmmmm.. never been down 619... i'll have to check that one out too... I definately agree with the day trip up to skyline. Finally did that myself just recently and it's a nice ride. Beautiful sites...
from woodbridge you can jump down to stafford and take left on courthouse and then cut over on brooke road to 218... 218 is a very good road out to dahlgren or colonial beach. grab a bite to eat and then run 218 back again. 218 isnice and curvy/hilly... very good bike road.
One thing you might want to do is go to weather.com and look at the satellite maps, it gives you both road maps and terrain maps. You can scroll them in far enough to show more roads than you can see on a regular road map, just gotta take notes as to where you want to go.Found a lot of nice roads that way, a lot that I never knew existed.I generally get lost, I'll see a side road and just take it to see where it goes. More than a few times I ended up in gravel... LOL Great fun if you like to explore new roads, but if you're the type that has to know where you're going and how you're going to get there it probably wouldn't appeal to you. Anyway, I found a LOT of good roads that way, just can't remember how I got there or which roads they were. Damn its hell gettin old... [>:]
my whole life is spent by not knowing where i am headed. i stay lost most of the time. should of seen me leading my dad around dc this past weekend for rolling thunder

Some nice afternoon riding back in that area...that's where I just got from tonight.
make your way to Old Town Alexandria on any given night. go down to Starbucks at the end of King Street. big biker hang out especially on the weekends. that and take 211 west out of Warrenton. AND GW Parkway to Clara Barton Parkway out to Potomac Falls/River Road and head west. Cross back to VA on Route 15 Through Leesburg or keep going and cross back into VA at Harper Ferry
Take anything west then go north on route 15 into maryland. Turn left on the C&O canal road and follow that to Harpers Ferry. Head south on route 340 to Front Royal. From front royal you can pick up skyline drive or the baseline road thru luray and points south or you could head east again depending on how your butt and time feel. These are what I would classify as easy level riding roads with sweepers and not too much traffic on them. Of course you can take any right turn and let yourself get lost. I figure a tank of gas, no where to be, and all day to get there is a perfect way to explore and enjoy the day and the bike.
You would be pretty close to East Coast H-D in Dumfries. They have a pick up ride every Sunday morning that forms up at the store at 1000. You don't have to be a HOG member to ride with them. There is a run out to Solomon's Island this Saturday, leaving East Coast H-D at 1000 but I think that is a H.O.G. member only ride.
Also, this coming July, we will be putting together a run to Gettysburg for HDF members of Northern Virginiaand whoever else wants to ride along to the Gettysburg rally on Friday, 13 July. Details will be put together as we approach that date.
Once you get past Fredericksburg, take rt 3west to 20 and go up thru wilderness into Orange, from there you can pretty much take your pick of which way to go. Another good ride is Rt 301 east and into MD, from there go south down to Point Lookout. Nice ride, just make sure you take cash for the bridge toll... When I get my bike fixed we'll have to go ride sometime, I'm off weekends
Hey oldguy, your in my neck of the woods now bro. If you take a left at 20 onto 522 south, you'll go into Louisa County passing over Lake Anna. That's my stompin grounds. Beautiful ridin out here. Let me know when ya'll get down my way. It would be a pleasure to ride with ya'll!
