Driver,
We can head out 29 and take the ride over the mountain into Harrisonburg into the Shenandow Valley. A beautiful ride and a great day trip. I am renting a bike in San Diego this weekend and riding up to Big Bear Lake. Should be a great ride.
Firestarter & Driver--I am in the Harrisonburg area, ifin you take a ride out this way giveme a shout!

Snickersville Road outside of Aldie Va is a must. Goes between Rte 50 and Rte 7 in Va. Great twisty road, great scenery!
Yes sir, nice riding thru there.....Snickersville to the end, left (west) on Rt. 7 to the top of the mountain, left on Blueridge Mountain Rd......goes right by Mt. Weather, don't stop & take pics tho, very secure govt. site....LOL. Right on Rt. 50 (west), cross the river, 10 miles on left is Winchester H-D. From there you can go numerous routes home.

There are many, many, many beautiful riding roads neaby, let's not forget Rt. 55 West from Gainesville to Front Royal and beyond. From Rt. 55, when you get to The Plains, make a right at the gas station and follow the road up to Middleburg, then right onto Rt. 50. Follow it a short distance in town to your second light (watch for sign directing you to Foxcroft School) and turn left, at the "Y" bear right onto Foxcroft School Rd. This road has lots of twisties. Follow the road to the stop sign, then you can either turn left, which will take you back to Rt. 50, or turn right, which will take you to Snickersville Pike. At Snickersville Pike, you turn right, taking you back to Rt. 50, or turn left and head up to Rt. 7. For a free Scenic Roads inVirginia Mao, visit their website, www.virginiadot.org/travel/maporder.asp. Good luck and great riding!

Another Vote for Starbucks in Old Town... We are gonna do a ride from there Saturday... Take off from Alexandria, head to Whites Ferry, across the river, then to Harper's Ferry. If you are interested, I think we are gonna try and leave sometime after 9:30 am.. If you are interested, we are riding a hybrid bunch, coupla Harleys, some Jap Standards, and whoever else decides to show up. PM me if you are up for it... That offer goes for all y'all, the more the merrier! You do not have to meet us in OT, but if you are on the way somewhere, we will come grab you.

One caveat.... we have one bud who is out of a bike, so I will probably loan my SG to a good friend, who will loan his FB to the bikeless person, and I will ride my ZRX... That way everyone gets in the wind... We are a Jap friendly bunch, so I hope that does not offend anyone. Just out to have a good time, and ride a fun ride! I think there will be another ZRX in the mix as well, but ridden by a guy that I have known for a long time... mellow and fun.

Costs 2 bucks to ride the ferry across the river, and probably want to bring some $$ for Parking at Harper's Ferry. If you have never been, Harper's Ferry is a real nice spot. Been going there since I was a kid.

I have met some good folks at Starbucks, and spent a good day together riding with them. Pretty cool way to get to know someone, riding with them.

Whatever happens, get out there and ride.. VA has some great roads, but they ain't 66, 495, or those other big ones... YUK! I grew up out in Warrenton VA, so if you have questions about VA or DC or MD, let me know. If I can help you find a nice road, I am all for it..

Diver, don't worry about buying a map, just use Google Maps (maps.google.com). Here's a link already set up for your Woodbridge home base. You can zoom in, out, switch between maps and overhead imagery, click and drag left right up down, etc. Click the little blue arrow on the left side of the map to get rid of the white space and make the map full screen width.

If you want a nice ride for next Saturday (June 9th), make your way to Warrenton and then take 211 through Sperryville, and up over the mountain into Luray. Outlanders in Luray is holding their 3rd annual biker party that afternoon, you can check it out here.

Virginia Wind is a nice website with a lot of writeups on local ride desitnations as well. Hope this helps...

From Woodbridge you could go south down to Fredricksburg area then head east over to Northern Neck. Nice country roads, Colonial Beach ain't a bad stop either. If you want a loop you could take Rt3 down to Warsaw then 360 to 17 and back up to 301.
