I was a LEO in S Calif and we trained on the Lojack system and many of our cars had the trackers installed as did all of the air units in the County. We had a lot of success locating vehicles after receiving a Lojack activation.
Prob with LoJack is that (1) LEOs must have the equipment and (2) LoJack has to transmitt a signal.
LoJack does not work in all area (b/c police don't have receivers--taxpayer $$) and/or LoJack is inside metal (or otherwise shielded) building. OnStar has the same problem with the metal/shielded building.
Anyway, after my bike was stolen, the cops and insurance company said my bike was dismantled with in an hour.

RE: Lojack?
Lojack is great if you scoot has just been stolen. But doesn't do much good when you notice it 5 hours later. By that time anything worth it has been stripped off and by the time LEO finds it there may be a frame left. The best way for lojack would to work in conjunction with the factory alarm system and remote pager if you have one, if the pager alarm goes off then at least you know then there maybe a problem and can LEO track it via Lojack... IMO
Nope, I don't even have security on mine... anyone want my addy?
Just figure if someone wants and takes it, then I DEFINITELY do not want it back. Had my wife's Cherokee stolen from our garage, did not want it back either... thank God it wasn't found for 4 mos.
All in all, you get the chance to pick up a new widgit.
I got to see a first hand demonstration at my job when it first came out. A Lojack guy and a buddy of mine got into the "target" car and my buddy gave the Lojack guy instructions as to where to "hide". After they were "hidden" inside a building, the other lojack guy and I started looking for them in a "chase" car. We drove right to them. I was impressed, but it only works if the cops are equipped to find the target.
Was thinking about lojack, but GAP, security and watching where you keep you bike can all do wonders. GAP was a welcome addition with my bike and am glad I have it! I would be flaming pissed if my bike was jacked, but at least I would have the peace of mind knowing that its covered.

I have Lo Jack on my mustang. I will go out without my key bob. Something like hour or two later I will get a call of Lo Jack sometimes the message is screwed up. So I will have to get on the inter net to find my car has been moved. Couple hour is not good service. And if they service your Lo Jack it takes $$$$$.
