I do not go for direct withdraws for payments...first I never pay the minimum amount and second I do all my payment via online bill pay..if you schedule a payment on a certain date, it is guaranteed to be there on that day.....in five years of using bill pay for all of my payments, whether it is my mortgage, insurance, utilites, etc....I have never had an issue
Check with your bank about their online service that they provide, plus it should be free and you never have to pay for stamps
This is the ticket right here. I pay all other bills through on-line banking. However, HD financial being the MORONS that they are do not provide that service to Canadians!! ... Apparently they don't have any canadain banking institutions in their 'database'. Every time I get off the phone with these people I want to hurt someone.
I have had similar issues in the past with automatic withdrawals getting completely screwed up (cable or phone bills) and learned my lesson there. Not a big fan of checks (hate 'em) but have never had an issue with the online bill pay through my bank in the 4 years I have been goin' that route.
I have my truck and my bike loans setup for automatic withdrawals. I do it from a savings account that I opened ONLY for the purpose of making that ONE payment. I only put enough money in each account each month to make ONE monthly payment.
All of my loans go out auto payment. But then of course, the credit union I use has two employees, and is for PD Officers/family only. It's like dealing with friends and co-workers......cuz they are

HD Financial or Eaglemark or whatever their real name is, is definitely behind the times. They don't even have a website where you can check your account. It's 2007 for goodness sake!!!
Fortunately, I was able to use Bill Pay though and can't believe it's not available to the folks up North...

Surprised no one else has said this; Re-finance!!!!!
You can probably get a better interest rate elsewhere. But in any case why would you keep doing business with them?

Of the instutions I visited before I chose HD financial. None offered a better rate, and none would let me take the loan out for more than 5 yrs.(with HD i took out over 7)
The reason I wanted 7 was to have the lowest monthly payment possible. I singed the papers for my first home, and my first harley in the same week. Until I get comfortable with the payments, I want as much flexibilty as possible. My plan is to pay off the loan sooner, but I didn't want to put myself in a huge hole just trying to make ends meet. Hopefully my calculations were correct, but I'll find out soon enough.
