If you're more concerned with riding it and things like comfortable seats and a better suspension, than what it looks like, then just get a bottle of what's on sale at Walmart or Costco, like the big bottle of turtle wax I got a few years ago; they all shine. I seldom wash mine, and when I do, I just wax the tins, doesn't take long, good for another 6 months or a couple years. I have a Ural sidecar I abuse in bad conditions and snow, and it's the only one guaranteed to get waxed every year. With cheap wax. When I get a used bike with that faded scrubbed look, I hit it with Meguiar's once, before waxing. I use chrome polish more often than wax, it gets grubby fast with just washing. Or not washing for a long time... But I haven't bought a new or near new bike in decades, either, or spent money on anything just for looks, cheap wax for cheap bikes - and I enjoy them immensely anyway.
