Default HOTT LEG fat boy

Hey, new here just wanted to know if anyone else has a problem with burning their leg on the 2016 fatboy? just bought in oct rode 3 times, last time on a 68 degree day, had to ride with my leg out got sooo hot.went back to dealer said about the oil tank burning hot and the pipe burning my leg, said that's normal.recomended i buy the saddle shields.WHAT!!!! i just spent 16K and now i have to buy something else that they knew about. doesn't seem right, yaa oil tank gets very hot, don't seem to worry just waiting for the warranty to expire then the bills on me...
looked up oil coolers for at least the engine health, pretty pricey.had a 2000 dyna lowrider 23k on it and the brass bushings decided to go,4k+ to fix or 5600 for new motor, so i bought the fat boy.saw a few lawsuits for the burning leg issue too, is harley going to do anything about this problem or just make all us fat boy riders uncomfortable when we ride....just my 2 cents.

They did something about it. It's called the Milwaukee 8.

I test rode one on Tuesday, and it was spookily cool on the right leg.

Doesn't help your problem, but yes. They do all get hot - and probably especially in Bali. It's an air cooled motor and I can't imagine the Bali traffic is particularly free flowing...

Oil cooler would be a good idea. Maybe also the Captain Itch heat shields. And/or Wards/Love Jugs fans.

I see this "hot leg" thing a lot and I'll say it again...my legs have never gotten hot, not on this bike or my panhead, when I was closer to the engine. If I rode in parades or sat at traffic stops or railroad crossings for 5 minutes with the engine running, yeah. But I don't. I just don't and never will get how that much heat gets to anyone's leg...and surely not going down the road.

I think all Softails are hot on the legs. I have a Captain Itch Crotchcooler which helps a lot. I try my best to avoid heavy traffic, bridges, railroad crossings, if possible turn the bike off while you're waiting. Otherwise I have been known to put the bike on the kickstand at really long lights so I can get my right leg away from the pipes.

The only 103 I've ridden is a Road King (test ride), and I didn't think it got very hot. I have a 2000 FLSTC, and it doesn't get hot at all. Basically, I'm with C on a C here in that I've never had a bike (HD) that got really, really hot. I've heard good things about the Captain Itch products, and some bikes must get hot, otherwise there'd be no market for them. I also know there are some plug and play tuning devices like those from Nightrider.com that promise reduced operating temps. Might be worth considering.

I have the 16 FBS and until I put aftermarket exhaust on it had no problems at all with heat. I put reinhart crossbacks on it a few months ago and did have to learn to put my foot out a little farther when putting my feet down as the crossover does stick out further. Was a simple adjustment to make. I am 5'11". I haven't ridden it yet in summer conditions so, hopefully I won't have any when temps hit 90+?

The trick is to not touch the parts that get hot with your leg

My Heritage Softail also gets hot. I've ridden it on 100+ weather in Illinois and it does get uncomfortable a bit but no big deal.

As for burning the legs, it helps if you wear jeans or other long pants instead of shorts or skirts.
