This is becoming very common...companies don't want to keep the service to see if a check is good...because so few people use them now...checks and paper money will dissappear soon.

I have a student loan with Navient. They no longer accept credit card payments either. Only debit or checking transfer. I was wondering if some legislation went into affect when I saw that. Big brother trying to keep the masses from bankrupting themselves.

AMEN!
You should see what the CC companies charge the retailer for accepting Rewards cards...

Dont get frustrated with people that have shitty credit or an antiquated way of thinking that bash credit card use. Let them walk around with wads of dollar bills/loose change and be the guy holding up the line trying to write a check...... If you are responsible and the key word is Responsible there's nothing wrong with paying with a card and then pay the balance off before it posts the following month. I've done it for years and received thousands of dollars worth of cash back. I never purchased nothing with a card that I didn't have the actual $$$ sitting in my bank account. If I'm gonna earn 1-3% cash back why the hell wouldn't you earn money for spending money???

If someone is making a loan payment with a CC, it would seem to me they can't afford the loan in the first place.
Wouldn't think it would be worth it just for the points, but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

Why wouldn't a person just have their payment electronically deducted from their checking or savings?
No charge for the service and you don't have to think about the payment, it just happens.
That is what I do. Simple and fast.

My wife works for a small company, the boss keeps the business CCs maxed every month, reaps the airline miles and whatever other rewards on like 100k of credit every month, but pays them off every month to avoid the interest.

Different country, different rules but here, if you use CC to pay a financial institution you get nailed for same charges as a cash advance. It would be dumb to do that here. Purchase goods and services, you have 20 days to pay and no up front fee.

I don't like it when people pay their bills at my office with a CC - I lose money. However, I accept credit cards because at least people pay their bills (most of the time) if they have that option.
I pay for a lot of office expenses on a CC - get a few hundred $$ back every month - and pay off the balance every month. "Free" money, as far as I'm concerned. (And yes, technically, putting something on a credit card is a loan.)

Pretty normal. If it weren't I'd be paying my mortgage with a credit card!

It is proven that you will spend more money with a credit card than with cash.

I think cash back and points are crap to make you feel good about spending with your credit card. That's all that is. No one is getting rich off "points" and 1% cash back. And you can be sure the credit card companies do not have your best interest at heart. They are not doing you a "favor". It's marketing crap. "I'm getting free money" Really? You are buying $100 worth of junk to get a dollar back. And how much money are you spending to get a free airline ticket? Just buy the dang ticket and be done with it..
