Doesn't seem to stop people though. It also seems these days cars are coming with so much technology that mobile phones aren't the most distracting thing in the car.
You can have all the laws in the world, it won't stop stupid. Also, it won't help if they aren't enforced.

Up here in Toronto Canada, we had a helicopter chasing two minors that stole candy at a Theme Park, we don't have enough time for cell phone users, ha ha

You can tell who is on the phone or texting on any highway by speed variations. Not hard to spot.

Yea, in the past, if you saw someone swerving, you thought of a drunk driver. Now it's a texter. Lol

There are laws,City ordinances that prohibit texting or using a cell while driving in some/most ? major cities in Texas except hands free is permissible.
Its all going wireless including bikes, I understand some needing to get/make an important call on a freeway where pulling over would be dangerous, that's why I got a wireless bluetooth helmet, kinda cheap in the long run all things considered.

In most cases, I leave my phone in saddlebag so I can't get to it. When riding...I want to be "unleashed."

I've been known to call a few in as suspected drunk or drugged up drivers, get that particularly obnoxious one that flips you or cuts you off deliberately with that phone in hand.

You get a Sena helmet, you can still leave your phone in your saddle bag, and make/take calls hands free [smile] just kidding man, I know what you mean about not being bother by a damn phone on bike time, I tote mine mainly because I run very remote roads, its kinda comforting having it there and not ringing but ready if I need it.
Kinda the same reason I like the harley infotainment deal, I never turn the radio on just don't like it when Im riding, what I like is the fact I can get deep in the back roads of the Tx Hill country and when it turns dark and I don't have a clue where Im at, I hit that "Go Home'' button [smile]

What you really need is a bluetooth device in your helmet. It reads me my text message, lets me answer phone calls and more; all while keeping both hands on the bars and my eyes on the road.

Texting/driving laws are just not enforceable. They are all for show.

I was in Ubud Bali last week and I saw a young girl driving a scooter and texting with her left hand. If anyone knows how the traffic is in Asia, this is quite a feat.
