I settled on the Shoei Qwest in a medium for my 57.5mm, egg-shaped (neutralish) head. Once I get it home I will evaluate it further before actually wearing. Again, being my first FF it was between the Qwest and Qualifier DLX from a fit perspective. Really wanted to make the RF-1200 work as well as it is so popular, but found my head between sizes, with some pressure points on the medium size. The Qwest and DLX are more toward the neutral shape, whereas the 1200 is slightly narrow. The following chart and set of helmet reviews are indespensable in understanding fit (for newbies anyway): http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...met-shapes.htm and this one to a minor extent: http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...helmet-faq.htm

You also have to take into consideration that there will be some break-in on a new helmet and it will loosen up a bit. I have a Shoei Neotec and the XL felt good but the Large felt too tight. I ended up returning the XL because it became too loose after wearing it a while. Now the Large is broken in and feels perfect.

This^^ Just a little too tight is right, there's almost always a bit of a break-in.
