I was very fortunate because I did $10,338.58 worth of damage to the bike and only suffered a few minor scratches on my arms. That was only because I went sleeveless that day. The insurance agent said for 10 Grand I could at least fake a limp.
But if you fake a limp too long & it stays that way, will the insurance co. pay for Viagra?
First time was a head on with a Volvo that decided to overtake on a blind bend - bike totalled, I got a free flying lesson but not a scatch.
Second time collided with a parked vehicle after getting blinded by the sun/wet road - only doing about 20mph, bike still totalled and I ended up with 12 weeks in hospital with my leg in traction -- now I walk really funny!
The up side is that both incidents were before I could afford a Harley - so no decent motorcycles were harmed in the making of this sad tale!
And what is it that the motto in your post says? sounds something like... 'good beer, sunsets, health, etc.' ??

Been down twice.
The up side is that both incidents were before I could afford a Harley - so no decent motorcycles were harmed in the making of this sad tale!
16 years old on a Honda 305 Scrambler. Rear end slid out on a gravel turn, passed out hitting a bank, I rolled onto a woman's yard, woke up and could not move anything for about three minutes, could not even talk. Returned to my relatively normal state after half an hour.
19 years old on a Trumpet chopper. Car in a parking lot pulled out right in front of me, screwed up my knee for a month.
53 years old on my Super Glide. Woman driver pulled out in front of me from a Stop Sign. I managed to avoid her car but went into a yard in doing so and dropped the bike, luckily in the dirt. Severed right tendon in my right ankle.
I still believe I have a better accident rate than my skydiving buddy or my skiing buddy,
Went down last week, 1st time. Walked away with minor injuries after getting tangled up with a big rig. My guardian angel was working over time. [sm=grinangel.gif] Haven't been back on my bike yet, the spirit is willing but my body is not. Soon as the thumb heals, I'll be back out there.
I can't even remember how many times I've been down in the last 35 years. It's alot though, and mostly when I was young and fearless (also known as stupid). I've only been down twice in the last 20 years, and that was in the mud in the span of about 5 minutes.
None of the fit what happened to me back in late April when I got thumped by a car that had turned in front of me. Didn't even drop the bike. Hope I still have some good kharma left over to use later...
