They all saidriding a motorcycle is dangerous. I laughed. Many bikers said "There are two types of bikers...those who went down and those that are going down." I laughed. They said "It's not a matter of "if" but "when." Again, I laughed.
Then I went down. (I didn't laugh.)
This made me think....I wonder what percentage of riders have gone down?

If you haven't gone down, I sincerely hope you never do. Ride safe!
I replied "More than once" in the poll... If there was a category "Went splat and then slid down to the ground" I woulda voted in that box too [][]. If there was a category "While flying through the air, caught leg on the pointed tail fin of a Chrysler imperial and ripped the sucker wide open" woulda voted in the one too[][][]!

Yup! Low-sided a few times trying too hard or trying to avoid a wreck - and t-boned a VW bug that ran a stop sign ...OOPS!
other than that - - I'm older and more careful, now. I've learned that they ARE out to get'cha.
Yeah, going down sucks. Riding on and off for 22 years and this is the first time I went down. I don't count tipping over while sitting still, that is just to easy to do with an 800 pound bike.
I was very fortunate because I did $10,338.58 worth of damage to the bike and only suffered a few minor scratches on my arms. That was only because I went sleeveless that day. The insurance agent said for 10 Grand I could at least fake a limp.
