Lined chaps here for 35 years. Rolled up in the saddlebag with the leather jacket, never leave home without them. 40 degree temp swings are not uncommon here in the mountains. Also have a set of heated chaps that fit under the leather chaps for those mornings in the teens when you just have to get another ride in before it gets really cold.
chaps in the cold or stormy and chaps in the heat, no chaps in-between.
great protection against the elements when needed and I won't ride with just shorts (except, maybe a block or two at low speeds in sturgis or similar) so the chaps go over the shorts until I get where I'm headed.
I've got a bro who made his own leather cod piece to wear with his chaps. I usually just deal... but I have pulled over at a gas station and stuffed my soaking cold pants crotch with paper towels, until I could get to my destination. was starting to fear my nuts were going to crawl up my *** for warmth and had to do something.
My Dad had and loved his set of Langlitz custom fitted leather pants. Built in kidney belt and silky lining. They really are the cats ***. If I didn't have a prosthetic socket, I'd wear 'em myself. Great for hot weather going commando and complete cold/storm protection. Seriously old school though.
