Well damn...
I spent yesterday checking out a KTM Super Duke R and was leaning towards buying it, so this development totally caught me by surprise. I never envisioned myself riding a fat Harley touring bike, but I guess I can adapt...

We're eating dinner last night and out of the blue she announced she wants me to go buy an Ultra so she can ride with me. WTF? Also, she wants me to get comfortable with it so we can tour Germany next year. x2 WTF?
Haven't got the slightest idea where that came from. But I listened politely and said, yes Ma'am.
LOL...Don't ask how I know these things!
If I head to the garage my wife has her helmet in her hand.
Good luck and have fun

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
She'll enjoy buying a new wardrobe! Let her run loose in the motor clothes section. All but guaranteed you'll be riding with a leather clad biker babe!
Driving in Europe doesn't bother me at all except in places like Rome, where I just use public transportation. I've always enjoyed checking out all the bikes over there, and a while back met some guys from England who were touring Germany on Triumphs. Really nice people and they seemed to be having a blast. I didn't have a bike when I lived there and have never rented one when I visit, but it seems like it would be fun. Not sure about the UK, though, as driving on the wrong side seems like it would be pretty weird.
As for riding two up, I've done it a few times for short distances with my son and daughter (who are both adults), but that was on my Breakout and I know they couldn't have been very comfortable back there. My wife used to ride with her ex many years ago on sport bikes, but she hasn't been on a bike since. The only thing she knows for sure is that she wants no part of getting on my Diavel, as she's seen and heard that nasty old thang in action...
It's not a problem to buy an Ultra as I was planning to pay for the KTM in cash, but it definitely requires a bit of a mental reset. I considering trying to swing the Super Duke and the Ultra, but I guess I better not push my luck and just be happy.
