The gauntlets are great anytime below 60 and you want to keep the cold wind from running up your sleeves. For warmer weather I like a perforated shorter glove. Best brand is so subjective. Pre-curved is nice. Something not too stiff is a plus. Gotta try them on.
All of my riding gloves are the gauntlet type. On the lightweight ones, I fold the gauntlets
into 'cuffs" when the weather's warm, and roll them up onto the sleeve of my jacket to seal it when the sun goes down things get cooler. My cold weather gloves never get rolled down.

Exactly. And there's no reason to spend over $100 either unless your budget is wide open.
I wear gloves (and a Jacket) year round. My thinking is that my hands are the first thing that will likely touch the ground if and when I do go down.
My favorite summer gloves are the Held Air N Dry Gloves but at $250 they are a bit steep. I also like the Olympia Air forces gloves < $50.
Harley makes a nice summer glove the Mens saddle mesh and leather glove $55.
I currently own all of the gloves mentioned and they are all wearing well with the olympias fairing the worst.
Avoid finger-less gloves. While they may improve grip to the handlebars they offer no protection if you go down.
I don't see a need for gauntlets in the summer, I use them for cold weather to cover the end of my sleeves. In the summer I want air flow. The mesh gloves tuck into the sleeves of my mesh summer jacket nicely. I don't feel I am losing any protection by not having the gauntlets.
I am a MSF rider coach that rides about 15 to 20 thousand miles a year.
I have been using the Olympia 750 gloves for about 6 years now. Very comfortable and vented for the summer. I do need to get a new set every other year because I wear through the finger tips. I then use them for my work around the house gloves. I think I want to try the 734's next. Basically the same glove but with hardened knuckles. Both pairs can be had for under $50 on Amazon
