I recently purchased new 14 inch handlebars. I am going to need new cables to go with them too. My question is, will it create a problem if I get the cables a little long in case I want to get risers or 16in handlebars?
Yeah,, Kinda, but you have to define "a little long".
Throttle cables that are too long will look just fine while the bike is sitting there, start driving over 30-40mph and they'll swing out to the side in the wind,,
,,easily tamed with "cable clamps" on the bars.
If a clutch cable is too long the cable sheath will move/rock when the lever is pulled,, it needs to be held in place too,, again you can get a proper clamp(s) or change clamps while re-routing the cable.
Point is yes cables too long can/does create issues,, nothing that can't be dealt with, just be prepared to get extra long cables tied down so they function properly.
