It won't hurt to add DOT 4 to a system currently filled with DOT 3. They're compatible.
Thanks Dave! I wish I knew this when I bought the Harley 7 years ago! I've kept separate containers of 3 and 4 (and bleeding hoses and other stuff) around for no reason!

Just an FYI for guys that live in the North Carolina area.
A friend called me today that owns a 2012 FLHX w/ ABS. He got the letter and called his local dealer in Wilkesboro, NC to see what they would charge to do the brake fluid flush and change for him.
He was quoted 2 hours labor and 3 bottles of fluid at just over $204.00 + Tax.
Well he called Tilley's in Statesville, NC and they told him out the door with sales tax $76.11. He was shocked and asked if that was for an ABS bike. They said YES that it is only one hour and one bottle of fluid and they are running a special to help people out.
Looks like there are those helping people and those taking advantage of the opportunity.
Last month I had my wife's 2015 SGS done @ $175.00+, I scheduled my 2013 RG and was quoted $275.00+ and they couldn't understand my questions on why the price difference in less than 30 days--after they did not honor my scheduled appointment which I made 3 weeks in advance I have decided to find a way to do it myself--2 years ago it was $75.00 + fluid for my 2013 RG. Taking advantage of a known issue is ????

Tilley's helped me out while on a road trip a couple years ago. Great service with no intention to rape someone in a bit of distress. (Thank you Squirrel!!)

It is an easy task and this video will show you how to do it.
I control my costs ...things you can do when you wrench your own bike instead of bending over at the stealerships.
Years ago I bought one of these little bleeder tools. Before that I just used my fork oil syringe and a hose...worked fine too. But I ponied up a whopping 12 bucks for this tool
I booked time with myself and a 12 pack of beer out of the fridge in my garage..and got her done!
Similar with oil changes.
Doing my rear brake rotor and rear pads next weekend before riding up to New Hampshire.
If you hate the dealer that much...pick up a wrench! Get to know your bike! Don't wanna get yer fingernails dirty..keep paying the stealership and don't whine about it, cuz it's your choice!
