Just put on a small leather roll bag on the front handlebar of my 2016 Softail Slim S. I mounted it just sitting on the headlight.
Interesting - I find that it acts as a windbuffer, a bit like a mini fairing, keeping the wind pressure off my chest and lowering my fatigue when riding.
Not a lot, to be sure, but before the bag, I would seem to hit a "wind wall" at about 65 mph. Now, I don't seem to hit that wall until 75 mph. Again, not a lot, but it does make a noticeable difference.
I also have a bag "resting" on my headlight but I've never noticed it acting as a small fairing/wind buffer. Maybe because I've had it there since I've owned the bike and it was on the one before it. Maybe I should take it off and see how it feels without it. Or maybe move it.
I've heard others say a rolled up blanket, sleeping bag or roll bag will move some air away from your chest at highway speed. I could not notice much of a difference on my Road King.
Thanks I'm going to try that I get the worst wind on my fat boy I believe it is from the flat plate behind the head light. Could be a cheap and easy fix

Yes, and I like the old school look of the roll bag. Much better that getting one of those mini fairings.
