As someone who has had weight loss surgery, I can tell you as long as your wife sticks to the Dr approved diet, she will loose weight rapidly. I would give it a little time and see what happens.
Mark, first off Congratulations on your fairly recent marriage.
Your dilemma is not uncommon or rare among Harley owners so you have come to the right place for sound advice.
I'm sorry that I can't give you any personal solution to this problem as I have a strict limit of 120# for any of the ladies that request a ride. One time I tried to accommodate a lovely girl that was about 130# but it didn't work out and I just rode off while she was paying for gas. Oh, well.
Anyway back to your question: I think that you are currently limited to 1. custom sidecar that will be constructed to her dimensions, or 2. a utility trailer that she would sit in while you tow her around. The trailer option is probably illegal in all 50 States, but you could check.
Honestly I'm surprised that she doesn't fit. I believe that HD has an entire section in their engineering department devoted to designing bikes around riders/passengers in the 800# range. Maybe a call to customer service might be in order.
As a last resort, maybe just sell the Harley and buy a very large two person Kayak.

Mark,
You need to be more careful about putting all this information about you on a public forum. We have your name, Mark Banner, city you live, Kinston NC, and directions to your home. There are unsavory people out there that will use that to go to your home. I imagine there are things like HD motorcycles and vintage cars that they would love to have in their possession.

Riding two up with that much weight could cause the center of gravity to rise and create stability problems. Slow speed turns could be a handful. No need to injure her or yourself.
Surprise your new wife with a ride after her stomach stapling surgery reduces some weight.

My wife and I weigh about the same 220 each and I bought a Road King mainly for her. We have been around the block a few times together in the past 42 years, married 37 of the 42 and the only thing that I can recommend is
(1) make sure tires are properly inflated,
(2) Max out the air shocks
(3) Let her get on first
(4) Have her get off last
Me and Mine used to ride a Wide Glide together before I smashed it, so where there is a will there is a way

I had a hip replaced exactly two months ago and I wouldn't ride two up yet even though my hip feels great. My wife is 5'8" and 140 and I'm 5'11" and 225. I don't want to test my hip having to hold the bike up if it got unbalanced. I haven't had my final doctors appt. (it's on 8/22), but I started riding again about two weeks ago. Summers are too nice in Washington to not be riding.
I agree with a prior comment that you should wait until after your wife's weight loss surgery before attempting to ride two up. Plus, it gives you time to regain strength in your new hip.
