If someone had asked me, "what's wrong with this part?" I wouldn't have an answer because i don't see what's wrong with it. It might look better laying down, as long as I'm not stopped because of it. But the way it looks in the picture wouldn't bother me.

Louvered Harley plate back.
Web site for example, only:
https://houseofharley.com/Harley-Dav...59899-88T.html
I cut my factory plate-mount bracket to the bare essentials and formed the radius of my plate around the telephone pole in the street. Rubber grommets, in the factory fender holes, keeps the modified bracket off my paint.
Cut and drill. Fasteners, of choice.
Cut line:

Drill a couple holes for the plate, and a couple holes to mount to the fender (not indicated in pic):

Cheap license frame, bent on the same telephone pole as the plate. I like acorn nuts:

It bothers me though, which is why I took the time to create a thread. One man's wine is another man's vinegar.

Thanks. That looks about right. You riding a bagger/cruiser or a Fatboy as your forum name suggests?

I cut a piece of thin stainless plate to go up around the taillight and use the bolts for the turn signal bar. I bent it and the plate a little to match the fender. I used a couple stainless bolts from the backside with acorn nuts to hold the plate. I put a small led strip light up under the turn signal bar to light the plate and put a street glide tail light lens on without the plate window.

I just noticed your plate bracket bolts to the fender so you couldn't do like mine or you'd have to fill holes. On another bike I had, I bent the plate and bracket back to lay down similar to what HarleyScuba did.

This one is packed in a box and I CAN'T FIND IT...

It is Lee Woods personal plate from the year he started his dealership and was still working for Eddie Conley's dealership in downtown Dallas.

Don't ask how I got it

Some guy has a Conley bracket on eBay right now and is asking $299 for it.

I want mine.

Am going to run the 1974 plate and pay the f*cking tickets.

Yes a 16 Fat Boy S. As long as you have the 3 hole plate holder on yours, it should work? They are a little pricey, but I just couldn't stand the vertical bracket which comes stock. I ended up mounting my turn signals on it as well using only 2 of the holes for screws and the 3rd for wires in order to mount hard bags.

That looks fantastic. It's exactly the look I'm going for, and yes, the fender mounting is 3-hole.

The only thing to consider then, is where your current blinkers are located and if you ever plan on bags which might require a relocation kit. There are some other other options on the market which address this, but are not as easy on the eyes as the Kuryakyn mount. It does come with the mounting hardware which I exchanged for all stainless steel and nylock nuts. I did a lot of research on this and couldn't find as many options as I thought there would be. Harley doesn't have any options available currently for a simple lay down plate unless it is touring. You do have to have a certain size LP which I don't know if all states are the same size or not? You should have seen my temp plate when I bought the bike. It was crazy big!
